From the farm

Rio Cobre Greens is three shade houses on the river flats at Bog Walk, run by Nadia Gayle since 2023. The lettuce grows in NFT channels: a thin film of water and nutrients runs past the roots all day, pumped from the river and filtered twice.

We cut to order the morning before your delivery and pack each head with its roots on, so it keeps a week in the fridge. Nothing is sprayed; the shade cloth and the sticky traps do the work.

Ryan packs and drives the Kingston run with Dwight and Shanique; Kerry-Ann keeps the books and the kitchens happy.

What people say

Still crisp on day six.

The roots-on heads really do last. The Saturday box is the best thing on our table.
